Ba Hao (八號, 'number eight') is a bar and restaurant in a shophouse at 8 Soi Nana in Chinatown, run by an owner who trained as a chef at the Oriental. The unrenovated building keeps its old bones, dressed with neon red Chinese lettering, vintage tea boxes, lucky cats and moody lighting that Time Out likens to a Wong Kar-wai film. The draw is Chinese-inspired drinking food and cocktails: the Opium, a Negroni spiked with ginseng and herbal liquor, the Five Rivers with Chinese five spice, duck wontons, kau yuk pork belly with pancakes, and the house sesame pudding, plus craft beer and tea. It sits at the Maitri Chit Road end of Soi Nana, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, about 7 minutes on foot from MRT Wat Mangkon and 8 from MRT Hua Lamphong. Hours are Sun-Thu 17:00-24:00 and Fri-Sat 17:00-01:00; reservations are recommended, and one 2025 review reports about 1,300 baht a head for small plates and cocktails. No dress code is published.
