Blue Elephant is the Bangkok flagship of the Thai restaurant group founded in Brussels in 1980 by chef Nooror Somany Steppe and her Belgian husband Karel Steppe; the Bangkok restaurant and cooking school opened in 2002 in a century-old colonial-style mansion on South Sathorn Road that is listed by Thailand's Fine Arts Department, and a second Bangkok branch followed on Sukhumvit 13 in 2024. The kitchen serves what the group calls Thai heritage cuisine, with classic heritage dishes and Master Chef Nooror's signature massaman lamb inspired by a classic Thai poem, chor muang dumplings, crab and young-coconut soup and Phuketian mangrove crab curry; a chef's tasting menu and a milder heritage menu sit alongside the à la carte, and Koktail Media lists gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. The official address gives BTS Surasak as the nearest station. It opens daily for lunch 11:30-14:30 and dinner 17:30-22:00 (last orders), takes bookings online and by phone, offers private rooms, and Koktail Media places it in the 5,000-9,999 baht price range.
