Central Rama 9, now being repositioned by its developer as Central GR9, is a large shopping mall on Rama IX Road in Huai Khwang that opened in December 2011. Locals and visitors come for an all-weather day out: a Robinson department store, a Tops supermarket and food hall, fashion, electronics and sports shops, a multiplex cinema, bowling, a kids' play area and an ice skating rink, plus many restaurants and a food court that reopened after renovation in 2025. Its biggest practical plus is access: an underground tunnel connects the mall straight to MRT Phra Ram 9 station, so you never step outside. The mall is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00, entry is free, and prices are typical of a mid-range city mall. Weekends and evening rush hours bring big crowds.

Visitors like that it plugs straight into the MRT and packs a big department store, supermarket, ice rink and plenty of food into one cool, modern building.
It gets very crowded on weekends and at rush hour, which makes moving around the mall slow.
