Chao Phraya Sky Park is a 280 metre garden walkway laid along the central viaduct of Phra Pok Klao Bridge, a structure built for the Lavalin Skytrain project that was abandoned in 1992; the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Chulalongkorn University's Urban Design and Development Center converted it, and the park opened on 25 June 2020 as the first sky park in Southeast Asia. People come for the 360-degree river view, with Memorial Bridge and Wat Arun on one side and the towers of Bang Rak on the other, and for the sunset, which can drop between those two landmarks; the 8.5 metre wide path has planting, three viewpoints, a cycle lane and a lift, and links the Kudi Chin community on the Thonburi bank with Pak Khlong Talat flower market and King Prajadhipok Park in Phra Nakhon. MRT Sanam Chai is the nearest station, with Memorial Bridge pier on the express boat route below. Open daily 05:00-20:00 and free.
Rating from public reviews
Each part combines public reviews from several sites (2,000 reviews). Not our own visit.
Visitors enjoy a free, easy riverside walk with lovely views of Wat Arun and Memorial Bridge, especially around sunset.
The park is small and exposed, so it can be hot and feels like a short stop rather than a full outing.
