Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park is a public park of close to 30 rai in the Sam Yan area, opened in March 2017 to mark the university's 100th anniversary. Its design is the draw: a tilted green lawn that slopes down to cascading ponds, a wetland with a rain garden and a retention pond that hold water during heavy rain. Locals come for running paths, open lawns, picnics, badminton and dog walks, and the park is liveliest at sunset and in the cool evenings, with plenty of food nearby. It is open daily from 05:00 to 22:00 and entry is free. From MRT Sam Yan (Exit 2) it is about an 8 to 10 minute walk along Phaya Thai Road.

What visitors love

Visitors love the clever flood-absorbing landscape, the tidy lawns and paths and the breezy, relaxed mood at sunset.

Good to know

Parts of the park have little shade, so midday is hot, mosquitoes come out in the evening and some side entrances are kept closed.
