The largest Sikh temple in Thailand stands in Phahurat, Bangkok's Little India, between Phahurat Road and Chakkraphet Road. The community prayed in rented houses from 1912, and the present building replaced a 1933 one after a rebuild finished in 1981. Visitors of any background are welcome: take your shoes off and cover your head, with scarves provided at no charge. The main hall is on the fourth floor and a lift runs up to it. Reviewers describe a calm, hospitable place with devotional music and a free vegetarian langar meal served from 7:30 to 10:30 each morning. There is no entry fee. Reach it from MRT Sam Yot or by boat to Ratchawong or Rajinee pier.
