Khanom Wan Talat Phlu Chao Kao, also known as Mae Jeng, is a long-established Thai dessert shop in a roadside shophouse at 1119 Thoet Thai Road in Talat Phlu, on the Thonburi side, next to a beef noodle shop. It sells dozens of traditional sweets made fresh each day: layered khanom chan, coconut-topped tako with taro or sago, golden egg-yolk sweets such as thong yot and foi thong, Thai custard cake, pumpkin custard and sticky rice with shrimp or custard toppings, most for around 10 baht a piece. There is no seating, so buy a bag to take away, and come early for the widest choice. A similarly named dessert shop sits a few steps away on Soi Thoet Thai 25. It opens daily from 09:30 to 20:00, about 15 minutes on foot from BTS Talat Phlu.
