Mahakan Fort Park is a small public lawn around Mahakan Fort, one of only two forts that survive from the old Bangkok city wall, on Maha Chai Road in Phra Nakhon. The whitewashed fort and a short stretch of crenellated wall can be walked around freely at any hour, and there is no entry fee. Visitors describe it as a quiet, shaded stop rather than a full attraction, usually combined with the Golden Mount and Democracy Monument nearby. The lawn sits on land where the old Mahakan community lived until the city cleared it to build the park in 2018. The nearest rail station is MRT Sam Yot, about 13 minutes on foot. Early morning or late afternoon visits are cooler and more pleasant.
Rating from public reviews
Each part combines public reviews from several sites (481 reviews). Not our own visit.
People like the calm, free walk around a rare surviving piece of the old city wall, right beside the Golden Mount area.
It is small with little to do or explain on site, so many visitors find ten minutes is enough.
