Nai Mong Hoi Thod is a small family shophouse on Phlap Phla Chai Road in Chinatown that has fried oyster omelettes for more than 30 years. Its draw is the or lua, a crisp batter-and-egg fritter cooked over a single charcoal fire and heaped with plump oysters, alongside the softer or suan, a crispy mussel version, oysters stir-fried in oyster sauce, crab fried rice and smoked duck on rice. Guides and diners credit it with a Michelin Bib Gourmand every year since 2018, and with only one stove the wait can be long. It is a 2 to 5 minute walk from MRT Wat Mangkon, exit 1, near the Plaeng Nam junction. Hours are generally Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 19:00, closed Monday and Tuesday, though listings disagree on Saturdays and one 2026 report gives shorter weekday hours, so check before going. Plates come in four sizes from 100 to 500 baht, no reservations are taken, and payment is cash only.
