On Lok Yun is a kopi-tiam-style coffee shop at 72 Charoen Krung Road in the Wang Burapha quarter of the old city. Founded in 1933 by an overseas Chinese partner group, it is now in the hands of the fourth generation of the same family and keeps a menu that has not changed: Thai-style American breakfasts of ham, bacon and eggs, steamed bread with kaya coconut jam, butter-sugar toast, French toast, soft-boiled eggs and traditional coffee or Milo. The two-storey shophouse is furnished with vintage cabinets and old tins, and it was once a hangout for film-goers and stars when Wang Burapha was Bangkok's entertainment district. It is a few minutes' walk from MRT Sam Yot. Wikipedia gives daily hours of 06:00 to 14:30, closed only for Chinese New Year and Songkran, while Tripadvisor lists 05:00 to 16:30. Tripadvisor rates prices in its lowest band; a March 2026 reviewer counted 15 people in the queue and was seated within 15 minutes. Bring cash.
