Rommani Nat Park is an 11-acre public garden on Maha Chai Road in the old town, on the site of a former central prison. Shade trees, formal flower beds, jogging paths, outdoor exercise machines, chess tables and playgrounds make it a favourite for morning exercise and a quiet break between temples. A preserved brick watchtower from the old prison still stands among the trees, and a small pond is stocked with tilapia. The park is free and opens daily from 05:00 to 21:00. It sits about 100 to 200 metres from MRT Sam Yot station and a short walk from Wat Suthat and the Giant Swing. Come early in the morning for the calmest hours.
