Shoshana
86 Chakrabongse Road, Talat Yot, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200 (a minute from Khao San Road)
Daily, about 10:30-23:00

Shoshana is one of Bangkok's longest-running Israeli and Middle Eastern restaurants, serving the Khao San crowd from Chakrabongse Road since the 1980s; the name means rose in Hebrew, and the business grew out of a guesthouse its owner started after a trip to Thailand. It sits a minute from Khao San Road, down a side street that is easy to miss. The kitchen is known for falafel, hummus with tahini and lamb shawarma, plus schnitzel and crisp fries, and the menu also carries Thai dishes and many vegetarian options. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable for the area, though some diners find a few dishes bland and service slow at busy times. It opens daily from about 10:30 to 23:00, and older reviews say it took cash only, so bring some just in case.
