Sia Kao Lao Nuea Rai Tiam Tan is a tiny, long-running beef soup shop on Boriphat Road near Saphan Lek and Khlong Ong Ang in the Wang Burapha area. Now run by the third generation, it serves only kao lao, beef soup without noodles, eaten with plain rice. Bowls come with your choice of fresh sliced beef, crunchy shank, tender braised beef, tendon and offal, and the prized braised fatty cut the shop calls Kobe beef, which often runs out early. Regulars praise the quality of the meat and the clear, fragrant broth. Seating is limited to a few shared tables and there is no parking, so MRT Sam Yot, a short walk away, is the easiest approach. Open Monday to Saturday from about 08:00 until 14:00 or sold out; a bowl costs around 100 baht.

Good to know
