Somtum Der is an Isan (north-eastern Thai) restaurant that opened in 2012 in a small shophouse on Sala Daeng Road in Silom, and has since expanded to New York, Tokyo and Taipei; the Bangkok original was renovated in 2022 and a second branch operates at Tha Tien. The Michelin Guide Thailand lists it as an after-work spot for north-eastern flavours, and its menu is built around som tam, served Isan style with fermented fish or Thai style without, in versions such as pickled clam, cockle, Sakon Nakhon style, grilled pork neck and mackerel, alongside larb, sticky rice and grilled meats; the New York branch held a Michelin star in 2016. The restaurant is at 5/5 Sala Daeng Road, a short walk from MRT Silom (Exit 2) and BTS Sala Daeng (Exit 4). It opens daily 11:00-23:00 with last orders at 22:15, takes bookings through Chope, and visitors report spending about 300-400 baht a head.
