T & K Seafood

T & K Seafood is an open-fronted, multi-storey shophouse restaurant on the corner of Yaowarat Road and Soi Phadung Dao in Chinatown, recognisable by its green frontage and staff in green polo shirts, and it has drawn evening crowds for decades. Each evening the charcoal grills are set up on the pavement, and people come for grilled river prawns and whole fish, stir-fried crab with curry powder, steamed sea bass with lime and chilli, a sizzling oyster omelette and simple stir-fries such as morning glory. Seating spills onto plastic stools on the street, waiters run orders up the stairs, and the atmosphere is loud and smoky. The stall is a short walk from MRT Wat Mangkon along Yaowarat Road, or 15 minutes from Hua Lamphong. It opens daily from 16:30 to 02:00; arriving before 19:00 avoids the longest queues. Queues are common; expect 200 to 350 baht per person, with premium crab plates above 500 baht, and bring cash.
