Thai Niyom
888/28-29 Mahatun Plaza, Phloen Chit Road, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330
Daily 11:00-21:00 (last orders 20:30)

Thai Niyom is a small Thai restaurant tucked into Mahatun Plaza on Phloen Chit Road, holding a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand. It began with family recipes and now cooks dishes from across Thailand, from Chiang Mai in the north to Hat Yai in the south. The inspectors recommend the Phuket stir-fried pork belly with shrimp paste and the Chiang Mai combo, a northern appetiser plate; diners also single out the khao soi, the fluffy crab omelette, the southern yellow curry and stir-fried ground pork with salted fish. The room is cosy with rustic touches, and the entrance is around the side of the building. Service and VAT are added to fairly high prices. It opens daily from 11:00 to 21:00, a short walk from BTS Phloen Chit exit 2; booking ahead helps.
Rating from public reviews
Each part combines public reviews from several sites (52 reviews). Not our own visit.
Diners praise the regional dishes, above all the khao soi, the fluffy crab omelette and the Northern sausage.
Service can be slow, and some find it pricey for a Bib Gourmand once service and VAT are added.
