The Snake Farm of the Thai Red Cross Society on Rama IV Road is a working research centre, regarded as the oldest of its kind in Thailand, that keeps hundreds of snakes to produce antivenom. Visitors come for the live shows: on weekdays a venom extraction demonstration runs at 11:00, and a longer snake handling show takes place on the outdoor stands, where you can have your photo taken with a snake; on weekends and holidays the handling show is at 11:00. The ticket also covers a museum and displays on venomous species and serum production. Open Monday to Friday 09:30 to 15:30 and weekends and public holidays 09:30 to 13:00. Entry is 200 baht for foreign adults and 50 baht for children, paid in cash. MRT Si Lom and Sam Yan are both within walking distance.
