Wat Chai Chana Songkhram, known locally as Wat Tuek, is a temple on Maha Chak Road in the Khlong Thom market district, not far from Chinatown. It was built in 1848 by the general Chao Phraya Bodindecha, who gave his own house and land for it after returning from the wars with Vietnam and Cambodia, and its name means 'victory in war'. The nickname, 'building temple', comes from its brick-and-mortar halls and monks' quarters, unusual for the time. Today it is a calm stop between the crowded hardware and electronics stalls: visitors mention golden seated Buddha images in many postures, a shrine to the founder at the front and the sound of wind bells. MRT Sam Yot and MRT Wat Mangkon are each about 500 m away.
