Wat Chana Songkhram
77 Chakrabongse Road (Chakkraphong Road), Chana Songkhram, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200
Daily 07:30-18:00 (Mon until 18:30)

Wat Chana Songkhram is an active Buddhist temple on Chakrabongse Road in Banglamphu, a two-minute walk from Khao San Road. Step through the gate and the backpacker noise fades: locals come to pray and make offerings, and visitors sit quietly in the calm grounds. The ordination hall holds a gilded principal Buddha image ringed by smaller figures, with murals overhead, and monks may give a blessing and tie a white thread around your wrist after a small offering. It suits a short, unhurried visit rather than a half-day outing. The temple is open daily from 07:30 to 18:00 (18:30 on Mondays) and entry is free. Phra Arthit Pier on the Chao Phraya boat line is about five minutes away on foot. Cover shoulders and knees, and politely ignore touts offering cheap tuk-tuk tours outside.
Rating from public reviews
Each part combines public reviews from several sites (4,132 reviews). Not our own visit.
Visitors love finding a calm, free temple just steps from Khao San Road, with a gilded Buddha, murals and monks who offer blessings.
Touts outside push cheap tuk-tuk tours that end at tailor shops and overpriced boat piers, and shorts or bare shoulders are not welcome inside.
