Wat Nang Chi Chotikaram, known simply as Wat Nang Chi, is a quiet, shady temple on the bank of Khlong Dan in Phasi Charoen, on the Thonburi side, reached down narrow Soi Thoet Thai 41/1 near Talat Phlu. Its name means the nun's temple, after a legend of a nobleman's daughter who became a nun when she recovered from an illness. The ordination hall stands out for its Chinese-influenced design: the roof has none of the usual pointed gable finials, and the gables are decorated with stucco and Chinese glazed ceramics. The temple and its canals featured in a boat chase in the 1974 James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun, and each November a boat procession carries Buddha relics along the canals. Wat Nak Prok is next door. The grounds are open daily from 08:00 to 18:00.
Rating from public reviews
Each part combines public reviews from several sites (223 reviews). Not our own visit.
Visitors love the shady, peaceful grounds and the unusual Chinese-style decoration of the ordination hall.
The lane leading in is narrow and the temple is small, so it suits a short stop rather than a long visit.
