Wat Pariwat is a riverside Buddhist temple on Rama 3 Road in Yan Nawa, nicknamed the David Beckham temple. A small golden figure of the footballer sits among the guardian creatures at the base of a Buddha image, and the ordination hall is decorated with colourful stucco and mosaic work that mixes Thai deities, giants and Ramakien characters with pop culture figures such as Pikachu and Batman. Most visitors spend their time hunting for favourite characters around the hall, then walk down to the Chao Phraya bank, where people feed fish to make merit. The temple is open daily from about 08:00 to 18:00 and entry is free, with donations welcome. It is away from the BTS and MRT lines; the easiest way there is the BRT to Wat Pariwat station, or a taxi.
