Wat Phrommarangsi is a quiet neighbourhood temple on the southwestern edge of Bangkok, in Samae Dam, Bang Khun Thian, close to the border with Samut Sakhon. It was founded in the late 1970s on about 14 rai of land given by local donors. Visitors come mainly to make merit and to ask for blessings at its large statue of the guardian deity Thao Wessuwan, popular with people wishing for luck in work and money, and to see the small four-gabled ordination hall with its gilded window frames. Reviewers describe a calm, easygoing place without crowds. The temple sits on Samae Dam Road, a few steps in from Rama II Road. The Phrom Daen railway halt is about 1 km away, but most visitors arrive by car or taxi, and there is parking inside the gate.
Rating from public reviews
Each part combines public reviews from several sites (169 reviews). Not our own visit.
Visitors find it calm and easygoing for making merit, with a striking guardian-deity statue and an unusual little four-gabled ordination hall.
Reviews raise few complaints; the main drawback is the location far out on the Rama II side of the city, where a car is the easiest way in.
