Wat Thep Sirin is a large working Buddhist temple on Krung Kasem Road in Pom Prap Sattru Phai, near Kasat Suek Bridge on the northern edge of Chinatown. Visitors come for its ordination hall, which holds murals and richly decorated ceilings, and for a quiet walk around grounds that see few tourists; reviewers also enjoy the ponds full of turtles. The temple shares its grounds and daily life with the neighbouring Debsirin School, and it is widely known in Bangkok for its funeral halls and crematorium, so services may be under way when you visit. Entry is free and photos are allowed. The grounds open daily from about 08:00 to 19:00, but some buildings are only open on special occasions. Dress modestly and come early in the day for the calmest visit.
